Activation of Typology In Academic Architectural Design studio Work
The research studies the role of typology in architectural design education, clariffing its
importance. It dcfines this role by adopting the educational objectives like: knowledge,
comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, as a base for inducing the
behaviors that students gain€d in studios taken on typology in their design education. l
The research depended on the definitions of students' behaviors in a pilot study to
discover the role of typology in architectural design education in Mosul University. It
concluded that this role is limited to the lower levels ofeducational objectives, neglecting the
upper levels ofthem. The study has recommended activating this role oftypology by adopting
it as basic educational strategy aims to provide students with the cumulative knowledge when
oomprehensively taking in the oducational objectives.
